Examinations are provided by a combination of the doctor and the ophthalmic assistants. We use the latest in computer and laser instruments to ensure the best result. The examination will vary from patient to patient depending on the health of the individual and their visual needs. AEA provides complete vision services for all ages including glasses, all types of contact lenses, cataract and LASIK refractive surgery care, early detection and treatment of eye conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. We provide 24 hour emergency services and have an in-house manufacturing lab that provides eyewear quickly and custom fit to your specific needs. The optical department is a full service facility that has everything from safety and sports eyewear to fashion frames and lens options. David Deutch, M.D. provides surgical and specialty services. He provides cataract, eye muscle, cosmetic lid and various other surgical procedures. He utilizes a "No Stitch-No Shots" surgical procedure for his cataract surgeries that promotes fast healing and quick, comfortable recovery time. The staff at AEA are well trained and certified in all aspects of patient care. Most of the staff has been with the practice for many years.

Optical Dispensary

We provide a very large selection of frames and we can special order almost any frame made in the world. Our optical laboratory has the latest in equipment to not only fabricate your glasses, but to maintain and repair them, should they become broken or damaged. We are able to tint, coat, harden and edge spectacle lenses. Our highly qualified opticians and staff are able to adjust and fit your glasses to you for extended comfort and vision. We strive to make sure you are completely satisfied and pleased with your vision.

Glaucoma Management

If you’re over 50 years of age, have a family history of glaucoma, are a diabetic, long-time steroid user, very nearsighted, or a Black American you’re at special risk of developing glaucoma. This is the leading cause of preventable blindness, but can be controlled if detected early. We now have the latest technology for early detection, the GDx access nerve fiber analyzer. The test is fast, painless, effective, and is quickly becoming the standard of care for glaucoma. It takes about five minutes, no dilation is needed, and many insurance companies now reimburse for the test under certain conditions. We cannot over-stress the urgency to schedule an appointment for your glaucoma test with the GDx today. 50% of people who presently have glaucoma are undiagnosed. 30% of those have eye pressures that are normal making it more difficult to detect this condition by conventional tests. This new technology can assist in the diagnosis 2-6 years earlier than any traditional diagnostic tests.

Contact Lenses

We prescribe and evaluate all major brands of soft and rigid contact lenses. Additionally, we prescribe custom designed contact lenses for special needs as well as special eye problems. We employ state-of-the-art computer equipment to help us fit the clearest, most comfortable contact lenses possible. Specialized fitting may include: Monovision, bifocal contact lenses, astigmatism contacts, Ortho K and Keratoconus. We have experience in modifying and polishing contacts. Our staff is able to answer many of your questions and are available for ongoing contact lens instruction and training.
